The IFSCI promotes studies in the field of spinal cord injury and awards grants to selected research involved in diagnosis, prevention of complications, equipment development, treatment techniques and innovative healing and rehabilitation methods.
By regularly consulting renowned scholars and experts in the field and through constant contact with the injured community in Israel, the fund identifies the critical and most important areas for research.
Periodically, the IFSCI issues a call for research proposals on the selected topics to doctors, scientists, bio-medical engineers and research departments in academic institutions. The proposals that fulfill the fund’s requirements receive funding and accompaniment in proportion to progress made. In this way, the IFSCI ensures the support of practical studies focused on effectively addressing the day to day needs of spinal cord injury victims.
Furthermore, the IFSCI organizes professional study days and medical conferences as well as monitoring developments in order to provide more information and encouragement for the victims.
To date, the IFSCI has assisted the research and development of a range of treatment and rehabilitative solutions, now benefiting hundreds of spinal cord injury victims.
The IFSCI has the support of the Ministry of Health, the Chief Scientist’s Office, the President of Israel, Chief Rabbis and lay leaders.
